The scope of the project was to conduct a road maintenance crack sealing project across 125 streets in three suburbs managed by a Metropolitan Council in Melbourne, Victoria. The project aimed to maintain and extend the life of the road network, improve road safety, and reduce the risk of potholes and pavement failures.

Knox Shopping Centre needed to fully resurface their bus terminal area which would take 6 days to complete. The terminal has up to 1000 bus movements per day by 3 different bus companies. All resurfacing work had to take place during the day and all services including bus, taxi and car park access could not be disrupted.

Effective traffic, transport and pedestrian management was extremely important in providing a safe work environment and in minimising disruption to normal service during works.

As part of a new building development a new driveway crossover was to be installed on a council road as soon as possible.

Council was holding up the works as they required the Contractor to provide a TMP, gain Council approval and have traffic management on site to minimise disruptions and ensure pedestrian safety.

Upon the completion of the $1.4 billion dollar upgrade of the Monash Freeway, VicRoads took over responsibility of the maintenance works between Warrigal Rd and the South Gippsland Freeway Interchange.

The Monash Freeway carries 110 cars per minute, travelling at 100 kph, in each direction during the off peak morning times.

Effective traffic management was extremely important in providing a safe work environment and in minimising delays during works.
